What Know Before Your Session

What should I wear?

When in doubt - keep the clothing simple. Agencies don't want a lot of distractions from loud clothing or busy backgrounds. They want to see you and how you interact with the camera. I recommend sticking with solid neutral colors like black, white, gray, cream, or calm tones like blues, earthy greens, earthy browns and oranges.

Go for simple clothing pieces. T-shirts, tanks, a good button down, sweater or jacket. Textures like denim, wool, knits are great as well.

Underwear matters. Invest in a good pair of well-fitting briefs (speedo style) or trunks (shorter than boxer briefs) for a good classic physique look. Calvin Klein are the most popular, but others can work as well. Try to avoid athletic underwear though and no loose underwear.

Beauty

A note about grooming: Please ensure your facial hair is properly tamed. Head hair as well. For body hair grooming, it can be helpful to trim down or completely remove chest and/or back hair. Trim away long underarm hair.

And lastly, be sure to properly groom and trim fingernails and toenails. Some setups may be barefoot.

Movement (Posing)

The key to this, is to not pose at all. Crazy, right?!?!

Your natural movements, personality, and confidence will go much further than posing or forcing a specific look. I'll be there to guide you through this though. So no worries!

Communication

I can be contacted via email at connect@danethms.com or by phone 313-719-8505 as my preferred mode of communication.

I absolutely love when my clients are involved, so don’t hesitate to reach out with your questions or ideas. Please be mindful of time though. Keep in touch and I will get back to you asap and always within the day.

Retouching

It's the day before my session and I have a pimple! That's quite okay, I do natural retouching so I can take care of that. I also recommend keeping concealer on hand just in case.

When will I receive my images?

Typically within one week, but please allow up to two weeks in rare cases. For agency-signed models, I provide the gallery to you first and then to your agency.

Do you photograph nude or implied nude imagery?

Yes. Though, this is something that would need to be discussed prior to our session so as to be thoughtful and intentional. For agency models, I may want to clear this with your agent.

I'm running late!!

Client understands that a late arrival will result in decreased time for your session and cannot be extended.

Helpful Information

Composite of four model portfolio photos showing a young man with dark hair in black clothing and underwear against white backgrounds.

Digitals

Your passport as a model. Digitals are un-retouched images and often typically sent to a client for castings. They're your first impression with the client.

Black and white collage of a muscular male model with tattoos posing in various outfits and shirtless shots.

Portfolio

Digitals get you in the door, but the portfolio images show your range and abilities in front of the camera. They show clients how you'll look in different image scenarios.

For Aspiring Models: Please note, Digitals are what you will submit to agencies. Not portfolio images. Portfolio images give you a head start, should you be picked up by an agency.

For Aspiring Models: Client understands and agrees that The Portfolio Builder and The Model 2-in-1 equip individuals with new and industry relevant portfolio imagery, but does not guarantee interest or offers from modeling agencies.
